I had to wait in my car--not my car,
the car I use to get organic groceries--
while commuters fought to make the light
on Ashland. I watched from the empty parking lot
as traffic stalled, pedestrians crossing between vehicles
stuck in the intersection. I cleaned the garbage
from the car and wondered why I don't do
mornings more often.
